"A mind is a terrible thing to close."

I have three overall goals for my students this year: to become better readers, to become better writers, and to become better speakers. Although I don't expect from my students (or myself) a mastery of the English language, I do expect them to challenge and stretch their understanding of what it means to be fluent in a language. Fluency in language comes from practice in reading, writing, and speaking the language. Each of these three practices will be employed in my class daily.
