Glossary An overview of the terms related to the Professional Development System

 

Professional Development System - a school of thought; a collaborative effort for the enhancement of teaching and learning

Mission - a clear, concise expression of purpose; a bold, deliberate combination of vision and commitment

Beliefs - a formal statement of overriding convictions; inviolate commitments

Policies - self-imposed parameters; boundaries; things to do or not do

Strategic Component/Area - focus of ACS/AU collaboration efforts

Clinical Experiences Committee - group which develops plans to involve teacher education students in the public school setting in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the public school students, teacher education students, clinical instructors, and university supervisors

Objectives - an expression of the desired, measurable end results; the "what"

Strategies - broadly stated means of deploying resources to achieve objectives; the "how"

Action Plans - portion of a given strategy that outlines the tasks, people responsible for each task, a completion date for each task, and cost benefit analysis
